Google GMAIL MX records for your DNS and Webhosting Provider

This article should help you setup your mail record to point to google

Mail servers

Here are the values to be included when you configure MX records for Google Apps with your domain host. Please note the initial numbers in the Value / Answer / Destination column show MX record priority. See understand MX records for details about adding MX records to your domain.

Name/Host/Alias Time to Live (TTL) Record Type Value/Answer/Destination
Blank or @ 3600 MX 1 ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
Blank or @ 3600 MX 5 ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
Blank or @ 3600 MX 5 ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM
Blank or @ 3600 MX 10 ASPMX2.GOOGLEMAIL.COM
Blank or @ 3600 MX 10 ASPMX3.GOOGLEMAIL.COM

Priorities

The initial numbers in the Value / Answer / Destination column show the relative priorities of the Google servers. The values do not need to be exactly those shown in the table; high performance wordpress hosting has different systems for setting MX record priority. Regardless of the system, ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM must be the top priority record

The priority level assigned to an MX record establishes preferences when there are multiple MX records for one domain. A correct priority value assigns a preference to the primary MX record. In this fashion, backup MX records are given a lower priority.

aspmx.l.google.com. is the most important mail server, and should be assigned a unique priority.

If your DNS provider allows you to assign numbers to MX records, choose the lowest number for aspmx.l.google.com., and assign higher numbers to the back-up servers. In terms of priority values, the lowest number gets the highest priority.

If your DNS provider doesn’t use numbers to assign priorities, choose the highest priority setting, or designate aspmx.l.google.com. as the primary server.

And if your DNS provider allows only one server, or doesn’t allow ranking, simply enter aspmx.l.google.com. as the only record.

Google Shuts Down Google Affiliate Network: Are you surprised?

Our goal with Google Affiliate Network has been to help advertisers and publishers improve their performance across the affiliate ecosystem. Cost-per-action (CPA) marketing has rapidly evolved in the last few years, and we’ve invested significantly in CPA tools like Product Listing Ads, remarketing and Conversion Optimizer. We’re constantly evaluating our products to ensure that we’re focused on the services that will have the biggest impact for our advertisers and publishers.

To that end, we’ve made the difficult decision to retire Google Affiliate Network and focus on other products that are driving great results for clients.

We’ll continue to support our customers as we wind down the product over the next few months. And there are other products that can help you achieve your goals. Affiliate publishers can continue to earn AdSense revenue through the AdSense network. And marketers can take advantage of other CPA-oriented Google tools like Product Listing Ads, remarketing and Conversion Optimizer to drive valuable online sales and conversions. These areas are growing rapidly and we’re continuing to invest heavily in them.

Thanks for your support of our affiliate product, and we look forward to helping you grow your business in the future.

Website Speed – How important is Website Speed for SEO

Ever heard of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs? It’s a theory of psychology that prioritizes the most fundamental human needs (like air, water, and physical safety) over more advanced needs (like esteem and social belonging). The theory is that you can’t achieve the needs at the top without ensuring the more fundamental needs are met first. Love doesn’t matter if you don’t have food.

Our founder, Rand Fishkin, made a similar pyramid to explain the way folks should go about SEO, and we’ve affectionately dubbed it “Mozlow’s hierarchy of SEO needs and how important is to do business in Staffordshire.”
